Sonaecom contracts Cisco for IP NGN

Portuguese telco Sonaecom has selected Cisco Carrier Ethernet products to upgrade its networks with next generation IP technology. Cisco will supply its Catalyst 4500 Series and ME 6524 Ethernet Switches, 7600 Series Routers and ME 3400 Series Ethernet Access switches. The new network is designed to scale significantly to support Sonaecom’s future growth plans, which will include new services such as high speed fixed and mobile broadband, enhanced virtual private networks (VPNs) for enterprises and residential multi-play services that integrate data, voice, video and mobility.
