Marriage or a cheap date: Spanish to go Dutch again?

According to a report carried by the Financial Times Deutschland, Telefonica is once again considering making a bid for Dutch rival KPN. Speculation on such a tie-up has been circulation since the start of the year, although in January the two companies denied they were in talks. The Financial Times cited a Telefonica insider as saying that their company had been mulling its strategic options and had begun crunching numbers and searching for synergies with KPN. No formal offer has yet been made.
