Legal victory over Tele2 to boost TeliaSonera’s Q1 by SEK275m

11 Apr 2008

Sweden’s Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from Tele2 in a long-running interconnection fee dispute with TeliaSonera, ruling that Tele2 must pay the former monopoly telco SEK500 million (USD84 million). TeliaSonera said that penalty interest included in the court decision will add a one-off item of around SEK275 million to its Q1 2008 financials. The dispute over payments for termination of Tele2 traffic on TeliaSonera’s fixed network has run for nearly seven years, during which time Tele2 was defeated in several lower courts.
