Hungary reports strong demand for broadband in 2007

According to official figures published by Hungary’s Central Statistics Office (KSH), the country was home to 1.826 million internet subscriptions by the end of 2007, up 37.4% on the corresponding period a year earlier. Of the total, the KSH reports that nearly 558,000 were connected to the web via a cable modem, up 48.9% year-on-year, while the number of ADSL connections had increased by 23.7% to 739,000. The statistical office also reported that the country’s 326 ISPs generated a combined annual income of EUR112.6 million (USD173.0 million) in 2007.
