Islandwide cable licences coming soon

7 Mar 2008

BNamericas writes that Jamaica is close to auctioning islandwide cable licences, quoting the country’s minister of information, culture, youth and sport, Olivia Grange. ‘I will not say much more, but I am putting you on guard that this is coming,’ the minister said during a seminar to discuss plans for the switchover from analogue to digital TV. The minister’s comments come amid concerns about the acquisition spree of cable company Flow, owned by Columbus Communications. Flow’s eighth acquisition, of Entertainment Systems, last month is currently on hold after the Broadcasting Commission obtained an injunction against the purchase last month.
