27 Feb 2008

German mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) debitel, which offers the debitel, Talkline, _dug and callmobile brands, has reported its full year results for 2007. Following the acquisition of _dug in February 2007 and Talkline in August, and the sale of three of its four foreign subsidiaries, its results have shown a significant improvement on 2006. Group turnover was EUR2.97 billion (USD4.4 billion), up from EUR2.62 billion the previous year. Adjusted EBITDA was EUR213 million, a 33% improvement on the 2006 figure of EUR160 million. Net profit was EUR38 million in 2007, compared to a EUR3 million loss in 2006. At 31 December 2007 the group’s total subscriber base was 14.1 million, up from 10.7 million a year earlier.

The split between debitel’s German operations and its sole remaining overseas company, debitel Nederland was as follows:

Germany: Turnover EUR2.55 billion (2006: EUR1.96 billion); EBITDA EUR208 million (2006: EUR140 million); net profit EUR63 million (2006: loss of EUR9 million); total subscribers at year-end 13.2 million (2006: nine million)

Netherlands: Turnover EUR420 million; EBITDA EUR5 million; net loss EUR25 million; total subscribers at year-end 900,000. Due to the divestment of other overseas subsidiaries during the year, a direct comparison with 2006 is not available.
