Telefonica O2 CR upgrades wireless broadband network to Rev A

7 Feb 2008

Telefonica O2 Czech Republic has reportedly upgraded its CDMA-450 network to Rev A technology in partnership with Nortel Networks, as it looks to offer enhanced converged services to its fixed and mobile broadband users. Through the upgrade, the telco aims to deliver a wider suite of advanced applications including mobile VoIP, video and multimedia interactive services, using Rev A’s ability to offer high bandwidth connections of up to 3.1Mbps (downlink) and 1.8Mbps (uplink). Telefonica O2 Czech Republic has more than five million mobile users and recently announced that it had over 110,000 CDMA customers using services such O2 Internet Mobile Plus Go – a converged service which enables the subscriber to surf the web anytime whether at home or on the move.
