Vodafone Group’s CEO for Asia, Africa and China plans to invest in Bangladesh’s mobile sector, reports Forbes, quoting local daily The Financial Express. Gavin Darby met yesterday with a representative of Bangladesh’s communications ministry, and said that the British mobile phone giant ‘is interested to invest here…We are excited by the growth possibilities in Bangladesh.’ According to the Express, Vodafone executives are planning to meet with officials of the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission to discuss investment possibilities. There are six mobile network operators in Bangladesh, and over 34 million handset users, giving a cellular penetration of less than 21%.
