Orange France to offer broadband users free music service with Lagardere

21 Jan 2008

France Telecom’s Orange unit has launched a new free service in partnership with Lagardere’s Active division, giving its broadband subscribers access to a wide catalogue of music online. The new musiLine service operates via a streaming system rather than as a download service, FT said. The French incumbent’s launch is a belated response to neuf Cegetel’s rival free music download service, which was launched using the Vivendi Universal catalogue in summer 2007, and Iliad (Free’s) subsequent decision to offer an online music service with the Deezer website.
