SLT forms rural partnership

Sri Lanka Mahajana Development Foundation (SLMDF), a non-profit governmental organisation, has partnered with Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) to improve rural communications. Under an agreement, SLT will initially provide 50,000 fixed-wireless telephone connections to meet the communications requirements of SLMDF members islandwide. SLT’s Citylink CDMA fixed-wireless service was launched in Anuradhapura in November 2005 to improve rural connectivity. It had over 400,000 Citylink subscriber by mid-2007.
