ACT selects Airspan for national WiMAX deployment

14 Jan 2008

Airspan Networks has announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply ACT Jordan with its HiperMAX base stations and its EasyST indoor and ProST outdoor subscriber terminals. At the beginning of 2007 ACT was awarded a 3.6GHz fixed broadband wireless access (FBWA) licence by the Jordanian regulator. The company will use Airspan’s WiMAX technology to launch a voice, data, and high speed internet service, with the possibility of upgrading to mobile WiMAX from the same platform at a later date. ACT Limited is a joint venture between Qatar Telecom (Qtel) and AA Turki Corporation for Trading and Contracting (ATCO) of Saudi Arabia.
