Visafone Buys Boudex Telecom

7 Jan 2008

Nigerian operator Visafone Communications has closed a deal to buy 100% of fellow PTO Bourdex Telecom. The price was not disclosed. Last month Visafone, which was licenced by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in July 2007, said it was ready to launch services, having already made a number of strategic acquisitions guaranteeing it 100,000 subscribers and coverage in 40 cities and 13 states including the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja. Bourdex won a unified service licence in August 2006 and in April 2007 launched fixed wireless and mobile services over a CDMA2000 1x platform across the south and east of the country.
