Ghana rejects PT’s Ghana Telecom bid

3 Jan 2008

The Ghanaian government has reportedly rejected a bid from Portugal Telecom (PT) for a stake in national fixed line and mobile operator Ghana Telecom (GT). According to unconfirmed reports in the Portuguese press, Ghana’s Minister of Information Oboshe Sai-Cofie has rejected the Portuguese firm’s bid, although he went on to say that the privatisation process of the operator was ongoing, even if the proposals received so far were not satisfactory. It is understood that France Telecom’s bid has also been rejected.
