Mobitel’s 3.5G service launches

Mobitel, the cellular arm of Sri Lanka Telecom, launched its 3.5G HSPA service ‘M3’ onto the commercial market on Wednesday, offering mobile users downloads via HSDPA at speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and uploads via HSUPA at up to 1.92Mbps. The network covers Colombo and most other major cities, reaching around 60% of the population, and the company is targeting coverage of around 90% within the next few months.
