PT Multimedia considers mobile entry

11 Dec 2007

PT Multimedia (PTM), the former subsidiary of Portugal Telecom (PT), is considering setting up as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). A report from Dow Jones quotes the company’s CEO Rodrigo Costa, who says: ‘We are evaluating, in concrete, the possibility of launching an MVNO and a decision will be made soon.’ PTM currently provides voice telephony and internet services over cable networks; it was spun off from PT last month. Portugal currently has just one MVNO, postal company CTT, which offers services using capacity rented from PT’s cellular subsidiary TMN.
