Regulator Anacom has revealed there were 1.57 million broadband subscribers in Portugal at the end of September 2007, up 2.3% quarter-on-quarter and 9.2% year-on-year. Of the total, 62% were ADSL-based, while cable accounted for 37%. Portugal Telecom’s market share fell by 0.6% from June 2007 and 2.7% from September 2006. Local loop unbundling (LLU) helped alternative carriers claim 48% of all new subscribers during the quarter.
