5 Dec 2007

Five operators have prequalified to bid for 900MHz and 450MHz spectrum, reserved for wireless in the local loop (WiLL) services, writes BNamericas citing Peruvian state news service Agencia Andina. Two companies have prequalified to bid for the 900MHz frequencies, namely Telefonica’s Movistar Peru and America Movil’s Claro. The winner will provide fixed wireless services in Lima and Callao provinces in the 894MHz-899MHz band and to the rest of the country in the 894MHz-902MHz and 939MHz-947MHz bands. The 450MHz band prequalified operators are Telmex Peru, Movistar and the STM-Valtron consortium. This concession will allow the successful bidder to offer services in Lima and Callao provinces in the 452.5MHz-457.5MHz and 462.5MHz-467.5MHz frequencies. The winners are expected to be announced later today.
