TeliaSonera expands broadband offering to Digita’s @450 network

3 Dec 2007

TeliaSonera Finland has announced it will launch wireless broadband services over Digita’s @450 broadband network tomorrow. Sonera Broadband Wireless is designed to meet the needs of people living in sparsely populated areas, and enables a downlink transmission speed of 1Mbps. ‘Sonera’s Trend Report 2007 indicates that more than half of the people in Finland want to use wireless internet at their summerhouses and at hotels, which shows that apart from residents, people at leisure also have an obvious need for broadband services in these areas. Extensive broadband services also make it possible to work efficiently outside the office,’ said TeliaSonera Senior Vice President Juha-Pekka Weckstrom.

Sonera Broadband Wireless can be used throughout the coverage area of Digita’s wireless @450 broadband network. Sonera will act as a service provider for the 450MHz network, which currently covers large areas in southern, south eastern and central Finland, and areas from Savo to Oulu, Kuusamo and Lapland. Digita hopes the network will have nationwide coverage by the end of 2009.
