eircom to roll out Ireland’s largest VoIP network for AIB

3 Dec 2007

Irish former monopoly eircom plans to launch the Republic’s largest voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) network by March 2008, reports Siliconrepublic.com. The telco is working on behalf of Allied Irish Banks (AIB) to develop the latter’s next generation integrated data and voice network. The new network is being deployed as part of the bank’s ‘One Network IP Telephony Project’ and will serve AIB’s Bankcentre 1 and Bankcentre 2 campuses, using 5,000 Cisco IP phones to support it.
