Arcor files complaint against Deutsche Telekom

30 Nov 2007

German telco Arcor, which is majority-owned by the UK’s Vodafone Group, says it has filed a complaint with the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) against alleged abuse of market power by incumbent Deutsche Telekom (DT), reports Thomson Financial. Arcor has apparently requested BNetzA to launch an investigation into DT, which it says is delaying rivals’ requests to install last mile connections with customers. A DT spokesman denied the allegations. ’We cannot understand the criticism because our number of installations have remained constant at a high level and has even increased in terms of processing time,’ he said.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Arcor is Germany’s second-largest fixed line telco, serving around 1.5 million traditional telephony customers at the end of 2006.
