Telefonica O2 CR mobile base tops five million-mark

14 Nov 2007

Telefonica O2 CR’s mobile user base has topped five million mark, 140,000 more than it had at the start of the year, says company spokesman Martin Zabka. The operator’s main rival T-Mobile currently has more than 5.2 million users, while number three player Vodafone has around 2.58 million subscribers.

Telefonica O2 CR is still losing fixed line accounts: the number has fallen by 300,000 this year to 2.14 million, although this has been offset by a rise in ADSL users to 550,000. The operator, majority owned by Telefonica of Spain, also reported having signed up 60,000 IPTV subscribers in its first year of operation.
