AIS goes back to school

13 Nov 2007

Thai cellco Advanced Info Services (AIS) has announced that its subsidiary Super Broadband Network (SBN) plans to invest USD60 million to roll out a Wi-Fi based VoIP telephony service targeting educational institutions and businesses, reports the Bangkok Post. SBN has partnered University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) to test the VoIP service, named AIS Net Call, and plans to launch commercial operations next year. UTCC students participating in the test can make calls over a campus-wide Wi-Fi network using GSM/Wi-Fi dual-mode handsets to AIS mobile numbers free of charge until the end of this year.
