KPN to use HSPA to provide rural broadband coverage

9 Nov 2007

Dutch incumbent fixed line operator KPN plans to use High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) mobile technology to provide broadband coverage to sparsely populated areas of the country. According to Telecompaper, KPN has been exploring possibilities for using HSPA to cover the parts of the Netherlands its ADSL network does not reach. The Dutch online newspaper says KPN’s managing director for business and wholesale Eelco Block sees HSPA as the obvious choice, as the company already has the technology on KPN Mobile The Netherlands’ network.
