eircom signs up 500,000th DSL customer, announces 12Mbps broadband trial

2 Nov 2007

Irish former monopoly operator eircom has signed up its 500,000th broadband customer and announced plans to launch a 12Mbps DSL trial later this month in Sandyford and across Dublin. A 24Mbps fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service is also set to trial in Sandyford some time in 2008, and will be announced over the coming weeks. The FTTH and 12Mbps pilots will help eircom progress its plans to offer IPTV commercially in the Republic.
