Telefonica O2 CR profits up 10.9% on mobile gains

26 Oct 2007

Czech fixed and mobile operator Telefonica 02 CR yesterday posted a 10.9% rise in its nine-month net profit to 30 September, driven by continued strong subscriber gains at its mobile unit and falling depreciation costs. Net income for the period January-September climbed to CZK7.60 billion (USD402.25 million), up from CZK6.85 billion in the corresponding year-ago period. Revenues for the first nine months of the year climbed 3.3% year-on-year to CZK47.10 billion, with the company’s chairman, Salvador Anglada, reiterating guidance that 2007 revenues would rise up to 3% on the year driven by growing sales of broadband internet services and by the company’s push to sell its broadband internet television service O2 TV.
