Warid Telecom orders BroadSoft VoIP platform to offer IMS over WiMAX

BroadSoft, a provider of VoIP application software, has announced that the Warid Group has selected its BroadWorks VoIP application software as a key part of the telecoms company’s new VoIP and IP-based multimedia network. The BroadWorks platform will enable Warid Telecom to deliver advanced VoIP services to enterprise and residential customers accross Uganda over an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) core network being constructed by BroadSoft partner Huawei Technologies. Warid will use the IMS-based system to offer a range of new services, including hosted PBX, multimedia communications, pre-paid wireless and fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) services. Warid will be one of the first service providers in the world to offer IMS over WiMAX.
