O2 Ireland to get mobile Yahoo

2 Oct 2007

Mobile operator O2 Ireland has signed a deal with Yahoo to bring the latter’s search engine to its customers via the O2 mobile portal. The contract forms part of a wider deal signed by O2’s parent company Telefonica to provide similar OneSearch facilities across its subsidiary operations in Europe and Latin America. The OneSearch service is tailored specifically for use on a mobile handset and delivers results directly to the screen. Customers taking the service will be able to access news, financial information, weather reports, Flickr photos and web images, as well as general websites. O2 Ireland CEO Danuta Gray said the tie-up with Yahoo would strengthen the company’s ability to transform itself from a pure mobile operator into a multimedia concern.
