Cabovisao not in the market for PTM

1 Oct 2007

The Canadian parent of Portuguese cable operator Cabovisao has ruled out making a bid for rival operator PT Multimedia (PTM), which is being sold off by Portugal Telecom (PT). Cogeco, which owns Cabovisao, says the PTM acquisition would be too expensive, although it has not ruled out making a bid for smaller players. Cabovisao is Portugal’s second largest cable operator behind PTM, with 290,000 basic TV customers and 400,000 telephony and internet subscribers.
