KPN to provide remote areas with HSPA/WiMAX access

Dutch former fixed line monopoly is conducting tests of wireless broadband services using HSPA and WiMAX technology to provide access in more remote parts of the country, reports Telecompaper. The incumbent is trialling both platforms with manufacturers Ericsson and Samsung with a view to selecting one of the technologies before the end of the year. A company spokesperson is quoted as saying KPN plans to roll out the new service from 2008.
