The government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is preparing the privatisation of state-owned operator BH Telekom, which offers fixed, mobile and broadband services and according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database is the current market leader in all three sectors. The privatisation is set to take place by the end of the year and according to local media, 51% is to be sold to a ‘strategic partner’ with a further 15% to be floated on the Sarajevo bourse, or other foreign markets. Potential buyers which have been mentioned so far include German incumbent Deutsche Telekom and Mobilkom Austria. The government intends to retain a 26% share.
