40,000 watching O2 TV

3 Aug 2007

Czech former monopoly telco Telefonica O2 has announced that it has signed up 40,000 viewers of its IPTV service O2 TV, which offers broadband subscribers 38 TV channels, 17 radio stations, a video library and 3D movies. Launched in September 2006, O2 TV has so far enjoyed a lack of competition, although alternative operator Czech On Line (Volny) announced the launched of its IPTV service, VOLNY TV, earlier this week, offering almost 40 Czech and foreign TV stations, and other TV services for CZK297 (USD14.46) per month, including the set top box. Other companies including Radiokomunikace are expected to launch rival services in the near future.
