Elisa has reported that its second quarter pre-tax profit almost doubled from EUR35 million (USD47.8 million) to EUR67 million on the back of strong growth in mobile subscriptions, due in particular to new 3G service bundles. Sales in the three month period ended 30 June 2007 increased 3% year-on-year to EUR393 million, while quarterly EBITDA improved 34% to EUR127 million. At the end of the quarter Elisa had 2.26 million wireless subscribers in Finland and a further 307,500 at its Estonian operation. Post-paid ARPU from its Finnish operations registered at EUR30.2, up from first quarter’s figure of EUR29.7.
