Meditel passes six million users

Moroccan fixed line and mobile operator Meditel reached a total of six million subscribers at the end of June 2007, according to a press release. It also said it signed up 30,000 fixed line business users in the first half of the year. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Meditel had 5.63 million GSM mobile subscribers at the end of March 2007, and it had signed up 100,000 residential fixed line customers by the end of 2006, after launching the service in May that year. The company posted net income of USD54.5 million in 2006, a 266% increase compared to 2005, on turnover that grew 9% year-on-year to USD560 million.
