OPTA fines KPN for breaching ‘discounting’ rules

12 Jul 2007

Former Dutch monopoly operator KPN has been fined EUR16 million (USD22 million) by the country’s telecoms watchdog OPTA for breaching rules concerning the discounting of products. OPTA says the violations relate to discounts offered to business customers in 2004 and 2005 which were not first approved by the regulator or made clear to the market – as per the telecoms law.
