Ericsson and BH Telecom sign expansion deal

Bosnian fixed and mobile operator BH Telecom has inked a deal with Croatian vendor Ericsson Nikola Tesla to expand and update its GSM network. The vendor estimates the contract to be worth nearly HRK28 million (USD5.2 million) and the projects are expected to be completed in early October. No technical details are available. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, former incumbent BH Telecom was Bosnia Herzegovina’s leading telco at the end of 2006, with 558,000 subscribers, whilst its cellular arm, GSMBiH, was also the market leader, serving an estimated 875,000 customers at the same date.
