According to a report from Kyodo World Service, Japanese mobile operators eMobile and Softbank Mobile have revealed they are creating a new joint company to bid for a licence to operate in the 2.5GHz frequency band for next generation wireless data communications services. The pair are also looking to broadband provider ACCA Networks to join the strategic alliance, say people familiar with the situation. Separately, ACCA Networks has announced it is setting up its own preparatory unit to obtain a licence to use the bandwidth.
