3i takes 25% stake in Finnet

European private equity and venture capital firm 3i has acquired a 25% stake in Finnish mobile operator Finnet (to be renamed DNA) for EUR140 million (USD188 million). The purchase and subsequent merger of DNA and five local operators will result in 3i’s ownership falling to 13%. The cellco recorded revenue of EUR365 million in 2006 and finished the year with approximately one million mobile subscribers.
