Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by KPN as lead network integrator to design, deliver, install, integrate and maintain an end-to-end multi-vendor IP Centrex solution. The contract is part of the Dutch telco’s ‘All-IP’ strategy which envisages the creation of a next generation network (NGN) based on IP technology. The network will enable KPN to provide a wide range of advanced communications services and allow it to expand its portfolio of business communications services by introducing hosted voice-over-IP and virtual PBX offerings to the SME and SOHO market. ‘Offering new IP-based services to our customers is key in KPN’s strategy for the future. Our new All-IP network integration services will enable us to deliver on this strategy,’ said Louis Rustenhoven, vice president the company’s Voice services unit.
