Ratel releases end 2006 data for Serbian telecoms market

According to data released by the Republic Telecommunication Agency, Ratel, the Serbian telecommunications services market accounted for around 5.6% of the country’s GDP in 2006, up from 4.5% in 2005, after total market revenue grew by around 40% year-on-year, to EUR1.3 billion (USD1.7 billion). Mobile services represented 48.68% of sales, fixed line services 34.71%, broadcasting 10.05%, data transmission 2.52%, internet 2.15% and cable services 1.89%. At the end of 2006 there were 2.72 million fixed line users, up 7.6% year-on-year, 6.64 million mobile users, up 20.6%, 1.01 million internet users, up 32.8%, 541,900 cable users, up 2.15%, and 121,600 broadband users, up 200.2%.
