Glocalnet makes a mesh

17 May 2007

Technology provider Proxim Wireless reports that Swedish broadband and fixed line operator Glocalnet has installed 500 of its AP-4000MR access points for its planned launch of outdoor Wi-Fi mesh services in the country’s 25 largest towns by June 2007. The new service, GlocalZone, is free of charge for existing Glocalnet customers, while for non-subscribers prices will range from SEK19 (USD2.60) per hour to SEK99 for a full month. GlocalZone was launched on a trial basis last summer. Glocalnet, owned by Norway’s Telenor, had 257,000 fixed line telephony subscribers and 125,000 broadband internet users at the end of 2006.
