Vivatel, the wireless arm of fixed line incumbent BTC, will launch its 3G network next week, according to local daily newspaper Dnevnik citing Richard Shearer, CEO of the cellco. Vivatel is expected to price its 3G offering at BGL36 (USD25) per month, far lower than its competitor’s: Mobiltel and Globul charge BGL99 and BGL72 per month respectively. In addition to the rollout of a 3G network, parent company BTC is planning the launch of a web-based TV service. The web portal btctv.bg will stream movies, movie trailers, music videos and TV programmes to its 100,000 ADSL customers. The service will be available in six different prepaid packages.
