NATCOMS unhappy with 3G licence cost

10 Apr 2007

The National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers (NATCOMS) has revealed its disappointment with the price of 3G licences. The president of the organisation, Deolu Ogunbanjo, stated that ‘the 3G telecoms services licence is very, very, expensive to consumers. If operators buy high, they will charge subscribers high. We appeal and plead with [the regulatory body] NCC to temper 3G spectrum licence justice with mercy’, before adding that it is NATCOMS’ belief that the licence is a value added service for both operators and consumers, rather than an outright operating licence, and therefore it should be priced as such.
