Government stands firm over PT golden share

In the wake of demands from the European Commission to relinquish golden shares in private companies, the Portuguese government has reiterated its desire to keep its golden share in Portugal Telecom. Business daily Dario Economico, citing public works minister Mario Lino, claims that the Portuguese government is prepared to go to court over the issue if an agreement is not reached when Portuguese and EU officials meet in July.
