MiPhone announces PTT agreement

7 Mar 2007

Jamaican cellco Oceanic Digital, which operates under the MiPhone brand, has announced a multi-year agreement with Illinois-based Clarity Communication Systems for hosted push-to-talk (PTT) services. Dubbed ‘MiDirect’, the service is built on the CDMA standard. ‘MiDirect allows our subscribers to instantly talk to each other or to a group by the simple push of a button,’ said Alex Hill, MiPhone’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. ‘It very easily facilitates the close family’s or business work group’s needs for very quick and informal communications.’
