Africaonline (Ghana) to retain its name following Telkom acquisition

28 Feb 2007

The management of Ghanaian ISP Africaonline (Ghana) says the recent merger with Telkom South Africa will not result in a name change for the firm. The South African heavyweight paid GHC176 billion (USD19.8 million) for an undisclosed equity stake in the company, but Africaonline managing director, Ato Sarpong, says the move will not result in any major changes to the name or strategy of the company. The ISP plans to make internet access and telecoms services available to at least 90% of the public in Ghana.
