Dialog’s revenues up 42%, adds nearly a million users in 2006

Sri Lankan cellular market leader Dialog Telekom has reported a net profit of LKR10.119 billion (USD93 million), up 44% from the previous year, on revenues that rose by 42% to LKR25.679 billion. Dialog, a subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia, added 986,000 new GSM subscribers in the year to reach a total of 3.11 million at the end of December. The pre-paid user base grew 56% to 2.62 million subscribers, accounting for 43% of total turnover, whilst the number of contract customers rose 10% to 480,000. EBITDA was LKR13.744 billion, up 46% from 2005.
