RanksTel acquires loan for next rollout stage

Bangladeshi fixed line operator Ranks Telecom (RanksTel) has signed a BDT1 billion (USD15 million) loan agreement with IIDFC (Industrial and Infrastructure Development Finance) and twelve other private banks and financial institutions for its second phase network expansion project. RanksTel launched CDMA2000 1x WiLL services in 2005 in Greater Chittagong, and later expanded its operations to the Sylhet, Bogra and Khulna regions. Its total customer base numbers around 55,000, according to a recent press release.
