Russian holding company Sistema is interested in acquiring Reykjavik-based Novator’s 65% stake in Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC), reports Russian newspaper RBK Daily. According to RBK, Sistema denied negotiations with BTC were taking place, but admitted that its intentions to enter the Eastern European region were firm. Bulgarian media had earlier reported that 20 investors were interested in buying BTC but that none had yet offered a sufficiently attractive deal to the Icelandic owner.
