Moroccan telco Wana, formerly known as Maroc Connect, has launched consumer telephony and internet services under a new brand name, Bayn. Last month the company changed its name from Maroc Connect to Wana to mark its entry into the voice telephony market. Launched in 1999 as an ISP, it was awarded the country’s third national fixed line network operating licence in September 2005. The concession permits limited mobility services within a 35km local area; it went on to win one of three national 3G mobile licences in July 2006.
