Russian telco Comstar UTS has said that it is interested in acquiring a stake in Ukrainian fixed line operator Ukrtelecom, reports Bloomberg. On 31 January, Ukraine’s state property fund announced that it planned to sell a 10% stake in the incumbent on 21 February on the domestic stock market. The government currently owns 92.86% of the company with the remainder held by management (5%) and employees (2.14%). Last month President Viktor Yushchenko approved legislation allowing the privatisation of the former monopoly.
